Marionnet is built on other free software. Here are the main pieces.
What runs the virtual network
- GNU/Linux: the system of the host computer and of every virtual machine.
- User Mode Linux: a Linux kernel running as an ordinary process; every machine and every router in Marionnet is one.
- VDE (Virtual Distributed Ethernet): the cables, the hubs, the switches and the link defects.
- Graphviz: the automatic drawing of the network.
What Marionnet is written with
- OCaml: Marionnet’s language, with dune to build it and opam to install the toolchain.
- camlp4: the syntax extensions the code uses.
- GTK and lablgtk3: the graphical interface.
- ocamlbricks: the OCaml library written for Marionnet.
- GCC: the C compiler, for the few parts written in C and for the kernel of the virtual machines.
